Chapter History

In the year 1921, the Grace and Hope mission was opened in York, PA. For the past 85 years we have been privileged to work in the city and surrounding areas.

Our main purpose is to preach the gospel through worship and open-air services, Sunday school, children's programs, and home and nursing home visitations.

We have a well attended Sunday school and Bible Club on Tuesday afternoon, also a youth group that helps us in the rest homes. We also have our visitation work, which includes visiting hospitals, rests home and private homes. We have found that there are so many lonely people in the world who enjoy a visit,
'just to talk."

Our relief work is a joy to us. How happy we are to be able to help those who are in need. We distribute cold meets, fruits, vegetables, canned good, baked goods and clothing. Many sandwiches are given to those who pass through the city, seeking help.

The Lord has blessed His work here and we praise Him for it.

We cordially invite you to attend our annual conference (May 17 - 19). This is a time of fellowship and blessing as we enjoy special music and hear inspiring messages from the Word of God.

We thank God for His goodness and loving-kindness during these past few months. "0 taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusts in Him" (Ps. 34:8).

The following is a story told in the "Earnest Worker." One time a father wanted to teach his son the lesson of God's great goodness. He took him to the top of a high hill and pointed northward over Scotland, southward over England, eastward over the ocean, westward over hill and valley, and then sweeping his arm around the whole circling horizon, he said, "Johnny, my boy, God's love is as big as that." "Why, father," the boy replied with sparkling eyes, "then we must be right in the middle of it."

Please continue to pray for those who need physical healing, namely, Marie Murphy, Hazel, Glenn, Dave, Jeffrey, Joe, Gerald and Gary. "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much" (James 5: 16).

We thank the Lord for His many blessings which He graciously bestows upon us. "Bless the Lord, 0 my soul, and forget not all His benefits" (Ps. 103:2).

May you, our readers, also rejoice in God's abundant goodness and blessings.
